I have recently been appointed as principal of
Gillwinga Public School. I have been impressed with the many
exciting and educationally stimulating opportunities for all
children from K-6. These programs equip the students with the
skills, knowledge and positive values that ensure a sound foundation
for life long learning. There are very strong literacy and numeracy
programs within the school that cater for all children, including
the gifted and talented and children requiring extra support.
We have a strong focus on the support of individual learning needs and student
welfare, with ongoing programs to maintain a positive environment and ensure
our students enjoy a happy, safe and stimulating experience.
Many opportunities are available for children to participate in the wider community
with many of our children achieving successes at a higher level, particularly
in external testing in English, mathematics, computers and science.
The transition for children entering Kindergarten in 2008 will be very smooth
with the Kindergarten Orientation program already in place. Parents are encouraged
to contact the school and register their pre schooler for the Kindy Tech program
which will be held during term 4.
I invite parents and guardians to visit our school to discuss the many opportunities
we can provide for your children.

Colette Abrahall
